M.A.C. Neo Sci-Fi, Solar Field & Future Earth Swatches & Review (Picture Heavy!!!)
Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 01:43PM
Okay dolls, this is going to be a very long post. I have a lot of pictures, swatches and lots of feedback in regards to these collections. Before starting the review, I must say that I am once again impressed with these releases. Not only are they an array of actual colors that are all very wearable on an every day basis; but they compliment every skin tone. They are filled with shimmer and pearlescent tones that compliment and highlight and compliment each other in combos beautifully. Please click on the images to enlarge them. Okay, now on with the review....FUTURE EARTH
As for Future Earth goes, I didn't purchase anything from that collection. For starters they only had the lip refinisher available, apparently the volcanic ash exfoliator is on a hold and may not be released till its original intended release date of May 29th along with Tendertones. But I did try the lip refinisher as the sample was taken right out of the box and I did not like it at all! It was not what I was expecting. It is meant to be used as a whole not in halves and it left my lips feeling too sticky, which disappointed me. I like balms that leave my lips feeling smooth and moisturized. This just felt like a frozen version of the original lipglass on my lips. I hated it. Sorry.NEO SCI-FI
In this collection, I purchased all of the lipsticks (except Sunsonic which wasn't in stock yet), glosses, eye shadows, and blushes. I didn't get the mascara or liners as they are permanent items and I didn't get any of the nail polishes because I just cant see myself dropping $10 on lacquer.

The Lipsticks

Sci-Fi-Delity : A burnt red color with copper and gold undertones. This is a very pretty color but more of a Fall color as it falls in the brownish-burgundy family. It has a frost finish and pairs well with neutral tones. This color is one that can compliment all skin tones from fair to dark. It is definitely a "safe" red lipstick for those who want to experiment.
Astral: A mid tone brown with reddish bronze pearlescent finish. This color is also very pretty. Again, another color that is great for the Fall and Winter season. It is a lustre finish and picks up on lips really well. One good thing about darker lipsticks is that it skips the part of having to need neutralizers. This color is also one that compliments all skin tones.
Electro: Talk about bright!!! This is a very bright orange color but more in the coral family. It is also a lustre finish. Alone, I think this lipstick will look great on fair complexions but for olive and tan complexions like mine, I would definitely pair this with one of its partner glosses.
Pleasureseeker: The sheerest baby of them all. This is a great creamy peach, glaze-finish color. Its perfect for every day. Wonderful to pair with smokey eyes for a nude lip and even better for light au-naturale days when you only want a hint of color. Great for all skin tones.

The Lipglasses
Supreme: Possibly the most pigmented gloss of this collection. It screams bronze, and is a very warm brown with gold shimmer. It is a beautiful color and I am sure it will pair very well with Astral. It actually looks like liquid lava! Amazing for all skin tones.
Soft and Slow: This is now officially the "my-lips-but-better" gloss. I love it! Its a very pretty mauve plum. Not too much shimmer in this one, more color than shimmer. But it is oh-so-fab! If your lips are pigmented like mine then this is a must have! Pair this one with Sci Fi-Del-Ity.
Naked Space: Part of the nude family, this gloss is a very light peach with a pale gold shimmer. It is very pretty alone and great for layering on other lipsticks. Alone it is better of fair to medium complexions but great as a layering gloss for all. Pair this one with Electro for a great coral effect.
Pink Grapefruit: Beautiful. It is pink, coral, gold, and bronze all in one. Amazing color and a great gloss for nude lipsticks. Layer some of this on top of Pleasureseeker for a wonderful result. Great for all skin tones. The Eyeshadows

Evening Aura (Veluxe Pearl): A frosty peach with golden pearlescent shimmer. I think that on the skin it shows more of a soft golden color rather than peach. Its great however because its not overpowering. This makes for a wonderful eye brightening shade. Wonderful for all complexions.
Expensive Pink (Veluxe Pearl): A gorgeous mauve pink with golden chrome reflects and carries a pearlized finish. This eyeshadow however is permanent but I hadn't tried it before. But it is definitely one of my new favorite everyday shadows. Also great for all skin tones.
Time & Space (Frost): A frost finish goldish-bronze shadow. It is super pigmented and very pretty. This shadow goes great with the others in the collection and wonderful for contouring the eye. Suitable for all complexions.
Femme-Fi (Veluxe Pearl): My new favorite base shadow & highlighter!! Its a frosty golden cream shadow. Somewhat similar to Ricepaper but 10 times better. Its smooth and rich in color. Amazing as a base, highlighter and inner lid brightener. Its wonderful and will look great on everyone!
Magnetic Fields (Veluxe Pearl): This is a very pretty ash black color with a hint of brown and silver pearl shimmer. The color stands out more than the shimmer but this is a great shade for smokey eyes. Great pigmentation and will look amazing on anyone.
The Blushes

Spaced Out: A very shimmery soft peach. Amazing for highlighting and adding glow to cheeks and face. With a slight hint of pink and duochrome golden undertones, this is similar to Pleasureflush (IMO). Amazing color. Great for fair to olive complexions.
X-Rocks: A shimmery mauve with goldish pearlescent shimmer. This serves as a great contour along with Spaced Out as a highlighter, the two are amazing when combined together. This blush is great for most skin tones.
SOLAR FIELD
In this collection I picked up one of the two bronzers available and all four of the Solar Bits which are AMAZING!!!!!! Better than pigments, indeed they are! Similar to pigments, they are all very heavy in pigmentation. They all carry a duochrome finish and are sheer when applied alone and intense when applied wet. As opposed to regular pigments these don't come in the usual loose powder formula. These come in bits and when applied they break up and dissolve, ultimately showing of their color. They are extremely concentrated and may take some practice for a few of you to get the hang of them. In addition not only can they be applied to the eye but to the face and cheek as well. However, I anticipate for these to sell out extremely fast. Each M.A.C. store and counter only received 4 of each color, so you better hop on it before it is gone!!! The Bronzers

Refined Golden: A light golden color with a light pearlized finish. This color is very light and therefore I did not purchase it because it blended so much into my skin. It is best for fair to light skin tones.
Solar Rich: A mid-town orange-brown color, this color has golden shimmer and definitely more of a bronzing cast than Refined Golden. It is very warm and rich in color. Great for fair to olive complexions.
The Solar Bits

Sunpower: A golden tan color with lots of chrome finish. This makes a great highlighter and amazing if worn alone. Apply this wet and you will have amazing bright eyes all day. Great for all complexions.
Bronzescape: The truest bronze color I have seen to date. This color is very much true to its name. Its great for a night out on the town. It has golden reflects and a rich brown base. Wonderful for all skin tones.
Scatterays: One of my favorites, this color is an amazing pinkish peach tone with awesome golden chrome reflects. Amazing as an all over shadow. Wet or dry, the pigmentation in this baby is intense. Will look great on everyone!
Black Ore: Listen up my dolls, the smokey eye has been redefined with this one! Hands down this is a must have! This baby is is a rich black with yellow-golden chrome reflects. It is AMAZING. If you love smokey eyes, then YOU MUST GET THIS!!!

Are you wearing liners with the lipsticks and glosses. If so, what liners?
No I am not wearing any liners at all. Its just the lipsticks and glosses on their own.
